His keen sense of self and where he fits in seems to leap from the canvas as he creates light and a supernatural presence by shading and color assignments.
His combinations of color, light, form, texture and passion have produced many awards including the Apex Annual Art Exhibit, the Nexus Artist in Georgia Exhibit Collection in Life and Heritage, and artwork exhibited in the National African Museum in Dallas, Texas.
His work has been collected and exhibited throughout the United States, Central America, South America and Europe.
A reception for the artist and Black History Month will be held at the museum on Sunday, Feb. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. The public is invited.
Nancy Prescott, museum director, thanked Jackie Harris for arranging Guilford's show for the museum.
The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on the museum or exhibit, call 245-4016.
